What is a Memo/Destination Tag for crypto top-ups

For most cryptocurrencies, Nexo assigns each client a unique wallet address. However, certain crypto assets share the same address among multiple users.

To identify the recipient within such shared wallets, a Memo or a Destination Tag is required.

1. What format does Nexo use for Destination Tag and Memo

On Nexo’s platform, both the Memo and Destination Tag are 7-digit numbers (e.g., 2034567) that specify the account to which a given transaction should be assigned and credited.

The assets that require a Memo/Destination Tag when making crypto top-ups to your Nexo account are the following:

  • Memo: XLM, ATOM, TIA and HBAR.
  • Destination Tag: XRP.

2. Where can I see my Destination Tag or Memo

When you click the Top up button for any of the assets above, the respective top-up address, including a unique Memo/Destination Tag, will be automatically generated.

Make sure to always include the correct Memo/Destination Tag before transferring XRP, XLM, ATOM, TIA, or HBAR to your Nexo account.

Leaving out this information will lead to significant delays in crediting the transaction to your account and, in some instances, can be irretrievable.

When you transfer XLM to your Nexo account, you may be prompted to specify the Memo type. In this case, select MEMO_ID.
